The Spring weather has just begun to set in for us here in NYC.  The days are getting long with the sunset happening around 8pm.  Wearing no coat has bright my skin an almost forgotten sensation and I'm enjoying wearing sandals and planning picnic adventures in Central Park. The sunshine really does put people in a happier frame of mind. :)

As part of my job, I spend a lot of time doing fashion research.  I feel lucky enough to come across some excellent stories I am too young to have seen the first time around.  This story by Meisel happens to be one of my most favorite, so I thought I'd share.  The rest of the story is after the jump.

Laundry Bag Chic

I found it quite amusing that two of my favourite FW13 collections seemed to both reference the good old cheap laundry bag.  In homage to the classic crispy plastic totes found in your local dollar store, both designers have come up with beautiful incarnations of this flimsy plaid.  The Celine coats in particular are really beautiful and capture consistency of the bags rather well.  I love this tongue in cheek reference but I am sure the price will be another world away from it's origin.
